Laughing Gas In Dentistry

Nitrous oxide is also called as laughing gas which is the best option your dentist may offer which helps in making you more comfortable during the procedure. It is an effective and safe agent that’s mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask that fits over your nose to help you relax your mind and body. It does not put you to sleep but you will be able to hear and respond to any request or directions the dentist gives.

Dentist will ask you to breathe normally through your nose and within few minutes you will start to feel the effect of laughing gas. You will feel light headed or tingling sensation in arms and legs ultimately making you calm and comfortable. Dentist will decide about the dosage of nitrous oxide and oxygen depending upon the patient. Care should be taken not to over dose the patient.

Can patient still feel pain with laughing gas??????

If sedation is insufficient patient might feel pain but when used along with local anesthesia you won feel pain or anxious during treatment. Laughing gas is safe and has no contra indication or age limit.
